Plan drawings can be prepared graphically reproducing the scene layout. They are also useful in positioning witnesses and validating eyewitness testimony. Items such as vehicles, pedestrians, casualties, signs, road markings and sight lines can be included, but any plan can be produced to client specification.

The use of maps and photographs allow the reader to relate to the overall geographical location of the accident, as well as give a sense of the surrounding conditions and other factors involved in the collision environment.

Scale plan preparation can include:

• Site-centred copies of the Ordnance Survey plans generated to the scale you require.
• Site visits and data recorded using electronic data surveying techniques
• View lines, gradients and measurements.
• Measurements and data from Police reports entered on correctly scaled plans.
• Plans are normally produced on A3 or A4 paper for tidy inclusion in reports.
• An exhibit referenced plan can be drawn without the need for a full report.

Note: It is advised that the photocopying of scale plans is discouraged as this can alter its scaling, especially at the outer edges of the paper.
