Where vehicles and parts are available for inspection, we can examine them with a view to establish whether or not a mechanical defect was a contributory factor. As an example, it is not unusual for a tyre deflation (usually called a 'blow out' by drivers) to be blamed as the cause of an accident, when so often the deflation is a direct consequence of the accident. Examination may show whether the deflation was pre- or post-accident.
A deformed element of a light bulb may indicate wether it was lit at the time of an accident. Microscopic examination of a broken filament may determine the conditions under which it broke.
Vehicle deformation, crush factors and accident damage can be evaluated, interpreted and related to speeds involved and casualty injuries.
The results of medical examinations can be entered into the reconstruction equation and compared with vehicle examination findings. As well as supporting the claimant where justified, insurers and legal advisers can also be alerted to fraudulent and other unjustifiable or excessive claims.
